    Richard...

Hi -- I run a Synchronet system, but I'm also carrying the GTPN echos.
My name is Richard Snow, and I ran a GT system late 80's early 90's in Houston.

I ran GT from 1992 to 2005, then switched first to Synchronet, then to Virtual Advanced (which I run now), so I could add telnet and web access
to the dial-up capability. Had GT been further developed where it did that
as well (that's a long story), I would've stayed with it. As far as I can
tell, my BBS is the last one in Arkansas.

At least I can still get the echoes via QWK Networking, and Mike Powell (my
    T
connect) as well as I co-moderate the FIDONet Weather echo, which is one of the busier echoes in the GT network as well.

After all, weather affects everybody...so much so, that I highly recommend that
one unplug their electronic equipment not necessary to receiving severe weather information, whenever thunderstorms (severe or not) are in their area. I've heard too many horror stories of computers and other equipment being damaged
or destroyed from a lightning hit...and no amount of surge protection will
save your equipment, if that's the case!!
